Shri Arjun Mundiya, Additional Divisional Railway Manager, Sambalpur & Apar Mukhya Rajbhasha Adhikari was awarded Rly Minister’s Rajbhasha Silver Medal and citation by the Chairman, Railway Board in a special function at New Delhi on 27.01.2010 in recognition of his commendable contribution towards implementation of Hindi (Rajbhasha).
It is worth mentioning that Shri Mundiya has been looking after the duties attached to the post of Apar Mukhya Rajbhasha Adhikari since May’07 in addition to his normal responsibilities as Additional Divisional Railway Manager. He involved himself personally to oversee the implementation of Rajbhasha in the Division. The measures taken by him include setting up separate accommodation for Hindi section and library, to encourage branch officers to do official works in Hindi, the introduction of Rajbhasha Shield and group awards within the Division, the arrangement of the training centre and trainer to facilitate non-Hindi speaking employees to take up Prabod, Praveen and Pragya examinations, arranging trainer on honorarium basis for Hindi dictation, organizing workshops with help of PowerPoint presentation on “Hindiwriter” software to popularize typing in Hindi on computers, editing of in-house Hindi magazine “Hirakhand” and maximum usage of Hindi during meetings, seminars and cultural functions. A unique way of promoting Hindi adopted by him was to distribute Hindi to English dictionaries to the prize winners including employees’ wards in various competitions organized by Rajbhasha department.
Recognition by Railway Ministry of efforts made by Shri Mundiya is a matter of pride for the Hindi loving people of Sambalpur (Orissa) where Oriya is the spoken language in day to day official dealings.
